Trends with Benefits #24: Bridging the Financial Information Gap with Dasarte Yarnway

03 September 2020

In this episode of Trends with Benefits, I speak with Dasarte Yarnway, Founder & Managing Director of Berknell Financial Group about building an investment advisory practice, bridging the financial information gap, working with professional athletes and taking his business digital.

The Robin Hood of Financial Knowledge

One aspect of the wealth gap prevalent today is access to information. This is something Dasarte noticed early in his career working at big advisory firms and banks that served the wealthy. He also noticed the wealthy were advantaged with a multigenerational transfer of knowledge. Dasarte's practice seeks to bridge this gap by taking information from the rich and sharing it with a community who might otherwise be underserved by the financial services industry. Wealth, however, does not automatically confer financial knowledge. As we've explored in previous podcast episodes, financial illiteracy crosses socioeconomic boundaries. One interesting client group Dasarte works with is professional athletes, many of whom may be newly presented with a flood of money along with the confusion of what to do next and who to listen to.

It's impressive to listen to the things Dasarte has accomplished. He's written three books, he's building a business and he's cultivating a community of clients and friends to share knowledge through his Berknell Townhalls. He's also recently taken his practice totally digital.
