A Long Term Approach to Investing with Joe Terranova

12 August 2021

In this episode, I speak with Joe Terranova, contributor on the Halftime Report on CNBC, Senior Managing Director of Virtus Investment Partners and author of Buy High, Sell Higher. Joe and I chat about what ultimately led him to Wall Street and why he categorizes his experience on the trading floor in the early 90s as the “fifth professional sport”. We also take a dive into the current state of the market, the law of supply and demand and the importance of momentum.

For many of us, when we hear “supply and demand” we think back to an economics class we took in college. However, understanding the balance between supply and demand is even more important in today’s current market and one which Joe feels has been under emphasized. Joe believes NFTs, Crypto Stocks and DIY investment vehicles are some of the things that have resulted from the disproportion of supply and demand of paper assets. Diversification is another point Joe believes is worth highlighting, particularly as it relates to global exposure. We cap off our conversation by discussing momentum. While Joe says he is open to the debate as to whether or not momentum can be interpreted as a positive or negative factor, he stresses that the weight it carries is indisputable.

Trend or Fad

Listen for Joe’s take on the term “disruption”, impact investing and alternatives to meat.
