April 06, 2021
Listen Time 29:08 MIN
It was a pleasure to speak with Brad Thomas about REITs in this episode. Brad is CEO of Wide Moat Research, a subscription-based publisher of financial information covering dividend categories such as REITs, MLPs, BDCs, and traditional C-Corps. He's a prolific contributor to SeekingAlpha and also the author of the book, The Intelligent REIT Investor.
Building Income
REITs are a potential income solution for many income investors, particularly in this environment of basement level yields from traditional bond portfolios. This was a great discussion starting with a broad overview of REITS in general and the many varieties available. We chatted about the impact of COVID and potential sectors of the REIT space to position for the recovery. He shares thoughts from his book about how to identify a quality REIT, including the metric he finds most important. Other topics we touched on included REITs for an infrastructure build out, the impact of rising interest rates and the PropTech trend.
