June 06, 2022

Listen Time 35:49 MIN

Ed speaks with Luke Wilcox, CEO and Founder of Ethos ESG about the creation of Ethos, trends in sustainable investing and how Ethos create ratings focused on measuring impact.

I meet with Luke Wilcox, CEO and Founder of Ethos ESG to discuss his company’s take on ESG ratings and specifically how they measure impact. We talk about the creation of his company and how its ratings are different than typical ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governmental) ratings. The recording of our episode was timely as just a couple days prior Tesla had been kicked out of the S&P 500 ESG Index. Perfect fodder for a discussion about ESG ratings generally. Of course, we also talk about trends he sees happening in ESG investing.

Strategies across geographies and styles approach ESG analysis and incorporate the findings in a variety of ways. Incorporating ESG factors or Sustainable Investing considerations may inhibit the portfolio manager’s ability to participate in certain investment opportunities that otherwise would be consistent with its investment objective and other principal investment strategies.
