VanEck Europe: Celebrating 30 Billion USD in AUM, 70 Years of Innovation, and 10 Years Listed on Deutsche Börse

12 November 2025

This year, VanEck celebrates three milestones that reflect both our legacy and our future: 70 years since the firm’s founding in the U.S., a decade since our first listings of UCITS funds on Deutsche Börse Xetra, and now over 30 billion USD in assets under management in Europe.

Each of these achievements tells the same story, one of innovation, independence, and a relentless focus on making investing more accessible.

A Heritage of Foresight and Family

When John C. van Eck founded the company in 1955, he believed investors should have access to forward-looking opportunities shaped by global trends, not just domestic markets. This vision led to several industry milestones: launching the first U.S. gold equity fund in 1968, pioneering emerging markets investing in the early 1990s, and bringing some of the earliest ETFs to market in 2006.

Today, under the leadership of Jan van Eck, that same spirit of curiosity and conviction continues to drive the firm, identifying meaningful investment themes before they enter the mainstream, and delivering them in a transparent, investor-friendly way.

A European Story of Innovation and Growth

VanEck’s European journey began in 2012, with the launch of VanEck’s first UCITS funds, and accelerated in 2018 with the acquisition of Think ETF Asset Management B.V. in the Netherlands. From its hub in Amsterdam and offices across the continent, VanEck Europe has grown into one of the most dynamic ETF providers in the region.

“From the start, our ambition in Europe was to bring fresh ideas to the ETF market,” says Martijn Rozemuller, CEO of VanEck Europe. “We wanted to give investors access to innovative, forward-looking strategies, products that reflect where the world is going, not where it has been, and to do it in a simple, transparent, and accessible way.”

What matters most is how our ideas serve investors. We design strategies that help them build future-oriented portfolios, navigate change with confidence, and participate in the forces reshaping global markets, from technology to sustainability and beyond.

A Decade on Deutsche Börse: Expanding Access

Celebrating our 10-year milestone by ringing the bell at Deutsche Börse. From left to right: Torsten Hunke (Managing Director, General Counsel for Europe), Martijn Rozemuller (CEO, Europe), and Florian Körner (Head of Sales Germany & Austria) - VanEck Europe.

A decade ago, VanEck listed its first UCITS ETFs on Deutsche Börse Xetra, one of Europe’s most trusted and efficient exchanges. That partnership has been essential in making our strategies widely accessible across the continent, from Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and the Netherlands to Italy, the Nordics, and beyond.

“Our listings on Deutsche Börse have played a major role in our European growth story,” says Martijn Rozemuller. “It’s been a decade of expanding access and credibility, and the story is still just beginning.”

Today, 44 European VanEck funds trade on Xetra, reflecting both the breadth of our offering and the depth of our commitment to European investors.

Looking Ahead: Innovation with Purpose

As VanEck marks its 70th anniversary, our mission remains the same: to strengthen portfolios through intelligently designed investment solutions.

In Europe, this means continuing to anticipate tomorrow’s investment themes – from new industries, sustainability and the digital economy to global infrastructure and beyond – while staying true to our founding values of clarity, integrity, and accessibility.

“Our independence gives us the freedom to think long-term and to innovate responsibly,” says Martijn Rozemuller. “We’ll continue building on that foundation, expanding access to opportunities that matter, and helping investors prepare for the future.”
