An Individual Savings Account (ISA) is a UK tax-efficient savings and investment account. Investments held within a Stocks & Shares ISA grow free from UK income tax and capital gains tax, subject to annual contribution limits set by the government. It is commonly used for long-term investing and wealth building.
For more information please refer to: Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs): Overview - GOV.UK
To qualify for a Stocks & Shares ISA, investments must meet HMRC rules and generally be listed on a recognized stock exchange. Eligible investments typically include UK and overseas shares, investment trusts, open-ended funds (such as OEICs and unit trusts), corporate and government bonds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs).
UCITS ETFs are eligible for ISAs, as they are regulated investment funds that meet recognized diversification and investor protection standards and are usually listed on approved exchanges. Investors should confirm specific investment eligibility with their ISA provider.
